I have not actually RUN across the planet in almost 10 months.
Today I “ran” a mile non-stop. If you were watching me you might think it wasn’t RUNNING. But it was. I scooted along at my best possible pace without feeling like throwing up.
It’s only a mile, I know.
But when you run on the planet (not on a treadmill) a mile you get to see how LONG it really is.
I’m sure I will be paying for it tomorrow.
My blistering pace was 11:34. It does include one time I had to physically STOP while Kona pooped and I picked it up. According to my Garmin that took about one minute (and I needed it because I was sucking air any my heart rate was at 180).
WHAT GRAVITY FEELS LIKE
I have been doing kettlebells, yoga, pilates, aqua zumba (by the way, I cut my big toe on the bottom of the pool and didn’t see it was infected! Blah-blah-blah as my workout time.
This does not compare to running mentally or physically.
My body felt HEAVY and SLUGGISH and GIGGLY.
AM I ALONE?
Do I run or blow it off?
Are there any other people dealing with this sort of thing today?
You WANT to run but just can’t find the motivation? You let every excuse come up and accept it?
That was me until about 30 minutes ago.
As I’m writing this I can feel my left hip flexor twitching…and I’m happy about it!
PLEASE JOIN ME
I’m going to commit to posting my Mile Time every Thursday. If I run more than one time this week then I’ll post my best run time.
This is all to get me to do it.
Would you please join me? PLEASE? I need at least one other person to commit and we can run “virtually” at least 1 day a week.
Maybe that will build up to 2.
For now I’m happy with having run ONCE.

Way to go girl!! I plan to start WALKING a mile one or two times a week starting May 1st. I had a hysterectomy last week and once I’m healed I plan to get back into shape. Now that the snow has melted I’m gonna commit. Once I get that down I’ll start a run/walk and then will work up to running the whole thing. I miss you!!

OK then awesome! Definitely follow your Doc’s orders so you heal properly. One mile at a time, right??

I’m am so so happy you got out there to run today. You know that one mile becomes 2 and 2 becomes 3!!!! Running is the best form of exercise at least for me both mentally and physically. I will commit to do this with you and post my run time on Thursdays. Is it okay if it is more than a mile? Thursday is typically long run day at Camp. But what is nice about this commitment for me is that when I have a Planning Commission meeting it will force me to go to afternoon camp to get the run in! So that is good! Love this!!

Yeah! I’ll be thinking of you too when I’m also thinking of all of the excuses NOT to get my butt out there. This may actually work for me. 🙂 Thanks for joining in. And post whatever will make you feel like you are challenging yourself – this isn’t a competition with anyone but yourself.

I’m in. I ran two miles today but did 15 laps around my street since I had to watch two boys. It was kinda boring, but it was better than not running. My time was faster than normal due to multiple stops to adjust my cheerleader’s blanket in the garage. First mile says 8:31, second one says 8:18 but I typically run a minute slower. I think the very flat course and the multiple stops let me catch my breath.

You ALWAYS crack me up with your writing skillz. I cannot imagine 15 laps! Your High School Inner Running Athlete must have helped.
WhatEVER helps you let’s DO IT! So you benchmark yourself and then get better.
My laps include (and will likely always include) a poop-session. Heh.

I’m in! If you have a way to remind me, I will get out for at least a mile for you. I ran two today. It was boring since it involved 15 laps on my cul-de-sac and a few stops to adjust the blanket for my cheerleader sitting in the garage. Still better than not getting out there.
PS if something’s jiggling, just get something tighter to hold it in. We all have jiggling spots 😀

Good point on the jiggle-issue. I was wearing a pair of 25 year old shorts with NO elastic in them at all. My “painting” shorts (actual paint on them). You would NOT approve as far as a fashion-statement. They are 80s style and ride on my waist. I am sure I looked more like the girl in the Prancersize videos.

😞 Can’t do running anymore cuz of my dumb knee, but I can definitely try to do some walking.🚶🏻♀️ A nice park is nearby so at least there isn’t the excuse of nowhere to walk except around the block. 🤦🏻♀️ I HAVE to do something. Maybe this “team effort” will motivate me. Stay tuned..
Thanks for putting this idea out there for all of us. 🙋🏻♀️ Hope the bottom of your feet are finally feeling better 👣
